Chickens In Ya Window

And I forgot to say this in my quote. I let the chickens out to free range around 1 and guess who just showed up in my yard? That great blue herring that's been eating chicks over at my neighbors! I put everyone away immediately. Some of my pullets are still super small. Do you think he would go after one of them?
I can't pass it up Ruby...
The Great Blue Herring?
Don't get me started on Monty Python again :gig
I would have never guessed a heron would eat chicks

I was just looking for a gif of a long legged, long beaked blue fish but didn't find one...

Yes they will happily eat chicks, frogs, fish...

I think you passed me your sinus sickness!!! Lol!!! I so stuffed up in my face it feels like it going to explode! :(

I'm sorry!! :(

SC and Rayv how you feeling?

Not continuously dizzy today, so a bit better... yesterday my equilibrium was totally shot... :/

Haven't had to jump out of windows for a long time now, but I am intrigued by those who dare to deviate from that which is perceived as 'normal'.  Many here seem to fit that description.  Can I hang out with ya'?  :ya

I've seen your humor, sour... welcome!! :D ;)

Stoneshimi? Sounds great :thumbsup
I'm 42, and this is only my second in my life. According to the CT, it's just as tiny as the first one, but they will make a grown man cry. I can't imagine every few months :hit

I'd rather give birth than pass kidney stones or have a tooth abscess... no joke...

Yes. I was taking yesterday and today off anyway. I woke up at 1AM yesterday morning in excruciating pain. I knew immediately what it was. Great vacation :thumbsup
I haven't passed it yet, but it's not moving, so I feel pretty good right now. Sally PMed me some home brew recipes, too, so I should be in good shape, soon
I hate to complain, because I know many people have been through so much worse, but that's a different kind of pain...

Females were built for giving birth, guys were not... you have every right to complain/cry...

Oh! i was so gonna get u! I didnt say nuthin bout my lack of a formal invite, its okay dont worry i aint nobody!
But u already know im here :) thanks! Im very pleased :) i know what a popcorn hatch looks like without a doubt...

Yay another for SW AND another comin for Ruby!!!

Yes, you are somebody!!! You'se my friend!!! :hugs

Here's my new baby. He's my first partridge chick. I love his coloring. Especially around the eyes. He's doing better. No more happy feet. But he takes two steps to the left, then two steps to the right...then goes forward.

Glad to see she's doing better... just give her a bit to figure out how to balance her big butt on those short legs... :gig

There was a hardened mass of poop inside the cavity, just like pasty butt, but inside. Food maybe not totally digested. Like either dumped directly into the body, or something ruptured and then dumped. It would have never survived, so that was a merciful cull

That sucks, sorry...

Any chance the medium sized combs are pullets? If not I have a grip of cockerels in this batch.

I'll give it to you straight, sw... there's a lot more testosterone going on there than estrogen... :/

It's been a learning experience for me, and after 3 hatched I am confident that the original flock is the source. 100% of the Davis eggs hatched. My only problem now is I know Tate is carrying some bad DNA... Like worse than just a big comb and halo...

At least you are learning and getting it figured out... my roo is showing some Wheaten influence now that he's molting too... :/

My hope is that one of these penguin cockerels will be close enough to SOP to replace Tate, and tate gets some Am hens

Keeping :fl for ya... I'm back to debating on keeping or scrapping them again... :/
I know Don said the Wheaten can be bred out, just not sure if I want to hassle with it or not since I have other projects...

I'm never going to be showing with these birds, my customers just want dark eggs. If I can just get to breeder quality, I will be fine. My AMs are the ones I'm excited about. That black rooster is going to be gorgeous. Never seen so much green before. The penguin BCMs are developing a beautiful green sheen, too

Hey SC, I do have one BCM gal that I don't think I ever posted. She came with my Lavender Wyandottes. She is supposed to be a Bev Davis/Cottage Hill line bird. She should be laying eggs soon. In fact, I'm starting to wonder if she laid that #5 egg I found the other day.

Her hackle/neck seems a little sparse, but It's mostly because she gets nervous every time I try to take a pic of her. She goes on the alert with her head high. I like her color so far though.

ETA: See that little bantam in the back of the pic? Can he actually copulate with any of the ladies? He hops on them and he looks like he's trying to stay for 8 seconds. It doesn't look like the vents could align, but I'm not 100% sure.

Welcome to jumping through windows!!!

Well then... :smack

And now you know size matters! :gig

;)

Nice! :celebrate

I have 11 on the ground. 1 zipped. So that would leave me with 12 out of 14 good eggs. I'm going to give them more time since the temps dropped a week or so ago.

I hate pain pills and always have. They make me throw up immediately. I had a hernia surgery once and throwing up after was a life altering experience. :sick

Parade????!!!! Sc?

I cant remember what this was...

Just put the Brinsea in the closet... :hit
Man, I wish those Ams would start laying...

You and me both!!! 26 weeks old and nothing to show for my CCL. Moochers!

Yes....I am starting to get the dizzy spells because of the sinus congestion. It's sucks.....and my tummy is crappy. I feel like I am going to throw up. I have not been this gaggy since my first pregnancy. It's hurts!!!!
