Oh things are getting back to normal now. You can give me a hard time. You know I like it rough

Glad to finally hear it. Not sure I'll ever get back to anything close to normal, but we'll see.

And yes, I know you like it rough, and its so much fun for me to give you a hard time!

Ok, here is my chicken update. These Ams are gorgeous! I will get some pics up tomorrow. The problem now, though, is there are still 7 cockerels in the pen. They are starting to crow, and one is trying to mount the hens. My wife said when she got home Wednesday, 2 of the boys were really going at it, necks flared and all, and the girls were flying all around because they were scared. Time to thin the herd, so I have them advertised now. I know the keepers, one of each color. The black will be in the AM pen for sure, and I'm going to try and keep the splash in there as well, leaving the blue for the BCM pullets that are growing out. If I can't keep two boys in the Am pen, I may sell my Easter egger rooster in the mixed pen and replace him with the splash. I hadn't planned on keeping the splash, but he is gorgeous, and my wife is in love with him.
I'm also hoping that the pullets will start laying sometime in the next 3 weeks or so

7 cockerels out of how many? How did you end up with that many boys!

I saw Armand trying to mount Katherine the other day. I never saw him succeed, but I'm sure he has. He gets close to the lavender girls too, but I'm not sure if he's trying to fight with them, or court them yet. Louie is still only interested in the stupid silkies. But he's getting way too big for them, so I've got to get them away from each other soon.

I will try and get some good pictures tomorrow. I'm with sidewing, when you put well bred birds beside hatchery birds, the difference is obvious. These birds are beautiful, and I have never seen beards this full. I wasn't going to keep the splash, just because I wanted more blue and black chicks, but he really is beautiful, and has a very nice type. I am so ready for these girls to start laying so I can start hatching

Now you're just teasing us...

Heck, if I'm in bed at midnight, my husband's asking if I'm OK... Generally 12:30-1am for me, with occasional forays to 2...

My eggs are in San Francisco

Saturday will be a day of round things--eggs, soccer tournament for my daughter's undefeated team (if it doesn't get rained out, in which case the co-coach will have to coach by herself the nest weekend, as the main coach's baby shower is that Saturday), and the team party no matter the weather.

Oh no!!!! Mine shows it arrived this morning here in Savannah. So it will be out for delivery today!!! It should be here by the time I get back home from dance class!!!!! When is the best time to set the eggs if you want the hatch to happen during the day so the kiddos can see it??

Box magically appeared at destination PO in middle of night, lol...
What sc said, set early morning or really late tonight... mine usually start pipping right around the time they are set...

Ahhhh, normal feels good :gig

:gig

There were actually 9 of 17 :/
I've already sold 2

9/8 isn't bad... just think, it could've been a lot worse... plus it gives you enough to choose the better boys... :thumbsup

That's exactly how I've looked at it, and I am getting 3 really good boys out of it. One roo with 8 girls is pretty much how all of my flocks got started, and I got the chicks for $100, so an 8 bird flock of Paul Smith Ams is A-OK with me

Uh-oh... that's a blessing and a curse... OH's parents followed him down here from Chicago... love them to pieces... but since they're so close, they want us over there ALL the time now...

Ok, I'm going back to see what I've missed.
I live 97 feet from my MIL. Not that I've ever measured...

Midnight would probably be your best bet, but I'm an old man. That's past my bedtime. Except for football and SNL :Gig
I'm lucky to get to bed before midnight. But that is typically due to kids. They go to bed at a good time, but then I have stuff to get done.

I would love to see some new pics. Splash is hard to resist, it's such a cool color.
