chickens leg hard like stone

I have a brood hen that looks good, and she looks good and is eating and walking fine, but her leg, the upper part is hard like stone and is a dark purple.
She is not showing any other problems. What can this be? And what can I do about it.

It sounds like circulation has gotten cut off to that limb somehow? i don't know what you can do for that....perhaps massages to try and get circulation back..... hopefully someone else has a suggestion.....
