Chickens locked out

One thing that I learned about chickens is they are ultra resilient. I had 1 hen lay a shell-less egg and it was in the early stages of her 1st moult. I was convinced she was dying and she turned out just fine.
Did you bathe her / do anything about it

Yes I did give her lower half a dip in warm water and then a wipe down with a dry towel. I spent hours reading about how bad it could be so I feel your stress. Best of luck to you and her.

Give extra calcium (a calcium tablet or calcium gluconate) daily for a week. It happens sometimes with younger layers. I had one with the same issue early on. She's almost 5 now. I hope that helps remedy the issue.

What do you feed?
Scratch and peck layer. They get their own egg shells fed back to them.

That is a good amount of calcium. Hopefully, it's just a "hiccup," but I would still give the extra calcium for a week to see if that improves things a bit. How old is she?
She was born in April of 22 so she’s less than a year old. She’s been laying since Sept I think with no issues. I brought her inside soaked her and checked inside her vent w gloved lubed finger. Some light yellow stuff came out I didn’t feel an egg or broken egg shell.

she’s been through a lot in the past few hours. Her first bath and a finger inside her. This is the poo that came out when I checked her vent. Didn’t feel an egg or shell. She’s been standing pretty still since the ordeal. Not eating or drinking but she’s holding her tail up for the most part.

I took her to the vet.

They gave me a free X-ray which was really sweet of them. She had an egg break higher up than you can feel with your finger. Options were surgery to spay her (no more eggs) for $400 and a 50/50 chance or euthanasia. Since she isn’t terrible I took whatever meds they’d give me and took her home. I don’t have high hopes but I wasn’t ready to give up yet if she isn’t.

I have my fingers crossed for you and her. I will not be surprised if she is 100% in 3days! GOOD LUCK. The glass is half full.
