I'm not sure where to put this thread, sorry if it's in the wrong place.

So I got a puppy, a little yorkiepoo. At 17 weeks he has gotten "playful" with the chickens... although the chickens certainly don't see it that way. When he gets older I'm afraid he might deal damage to them, but for now they can outrun him. And since he is a puppy he doesn't really like to follow my commands and stuff. Sometimes when Poe (my puppy) bothers the chickens my rooster kinda goes after him. He hasn't made contact with Poe yet because I step in before that happens. But if Poe continues to display threatening behavior to the chickens I'm sure the rooster will become more aggressive and hurt him. He already goes after my other dog for no reason. What I want to know is if anyone knows what to do or can direct me to a good article about this.

Thanks

Work on getting the pup under control. Even my 10-week old pup can be a mortal threat to a chicken so I have already started moderating her behavior. Your pup, like mine has more bad times ahead for sure so stay on top it. It takes me a good two years to get a pup to trustworthy point without constant supervision. More time with chickens is better and work to stimulate other interest beyond chickens.

Agree w centrarchid, get the reins on your pup! A dog who won't listen when you call it isn't just bad because it endangers your flock, it's not great for the dog's mental health to be completely untrained.
