The last time we had hens, we had to give them away. They were used to be let out to range when they woke up and boy did they wake up early (5:15). They woke up the kids and the neighbors too and the complaining was too much. (as soon as they were ranging they were totally quiet). Well, I did it again... I brought home 5 chicks. I've been told if I keep them in the run they won't wake up and be so demanding. Can someone tell me any tricks to keep 'em a bit quiet... till at least 7am?????

I have a completely insulated coop and cannot hear my chickens whatsoever. Zero noise until I let them out of the coop in the morning.

Not that it really matters... nearest neighbor on that side is a mile away.

When we lived in the city, I had a coop with no windows. The chickens slept until I let them out.
