Chickens not allowed in Monroe- HELP!

I support you 100%!!! We live in a Seattle suburb, and are certainly allowed to keep chickens! They are great pets, provide fresh healthy eggs, eat bugs, and bother nobody. I doubt many of my neighbors even know we have chickens.

In my town, if you have under 5 acres you have to file permit to have chickens. I found this out by stopping in at my town hall and asking.
Maybe that's all you have to do. It just doesn't sound right for them not to let you have chickens. Chickens are American as apple pie and hotdogs.

I support FluffyColor's effort to raise and keep chickens. For many of us, a small flock of chickens make far better pets and companions than traditional pets (i.e. cats and dogs). I believe it is unfair to prevent those who do not enjoy traditional pets from keeping chickens and other non-traditional species simply because it is not the status quo. As long as the animals are cared for properly and numbers and noise are reasonable, then I say live and let live.

I support folks teaching their children where food comes from and how to live closer to the earth. I also support kids having chores and diversions that don't include sitting in front of a television. I support the same ideas for adults who've never had those opportunities either. In general, I support the re-discovery of "old" ways and more simple means. I believe in and support raising chickens as an excellent step along that path to re-discovery.
