Hi All!
I'm new to the chicken community. I recently bought 3 chickens. I am fairly certain the farmer told me they are black easter eggers. He said they are about 2 1/2 months old. I've had them now for about a week. I'm curious as to how long it takes them to learn to walk up their ramp to their coop. At night I'm having to pick them up and put them in it. I've tried putting snacks on the ramp, but that didn't work. Is this something that will just take time?

Thanks!

Greetings larrybeckie, Welcome to BYC! :frow
Try putting a little light in the coop. A battery lantern will do, then turn it off when they go in. Darkness is scary... It will be comforting to the youngsters. :jumpy

Hello and welcome to BYC. Good advice above, along with confining the birds to the coop for a few days so they associate the coop with being "home"

X2 a light in the coop. After dark if they're huddled somewhere in the run, pick them up and put them at the top of the ramp. They will follow the light and go in. After a few nights of this they should figure out how to put themselves to bed.
