Chickens not growing.

Silkies can take a while before they start laying. I've had some that started laying at 7 months old and some took until a year, it all just depends on the bird. They might still have a little more growing to do, since you said they still had their baby peeps.

Sometimes pullets that come to egg laying maturity late in the year will not start laying until the following spring . If you wanted to use synthetic lighting to trick them into laying . It might work . then again It could mess them up . Do you in fact they are pullets ?

What protein % in your feed? Did you give them starter until 16-20 weeks of age? Are they on layer now?
Sorry so many questions to help find the problem! Not being a smarty pants...
been raising chickens for almost 50 years now and have a huge poultry egg farm. And it's a no kill site!
They retire here when they are done.
Ok ok... have you checked for parasites? Live, mites, worms...

Silkies are kind of slow to mature and my girls are developed at different rates than each other a well... I have a 7+ month old still not laying. My 9 month old silkie is much smaller than the 7 month old but is actually an amazing layer (still laying despite everyone else quiting on me).. if they are acting healthy and you know they are eating, drinking, pooping like normal then there's no concern!
