We got our first chickens last May. So far we have only gotten 3 eggs and we got those last week with nothing since. The weather was really rainy and rough after those first eggs for I figured that was the reason for the pause but after 2 days of nice weather I am still not getting anything. The coop is fairly small and so is the run so they aren't hiding them anywhere and those 3 make me think that they aren't eating them (although if they are I have no idea how to tell since there is no evidence). Should I be worried about them not laying. I have 12 hens and 2 roos. They eat layer pellets and scraps.
Do they have to have specific kinds of nest boxes or is there something else I am doin wrong. The 3 eggs I did get were fairly large (normal size eggs I would say), had hard shells, were normal shaped. I will be eternally aggrevated at myself if they have been layin eggs for months and I never got any of them.
They also had a few little specks of red (I am assuming it was a little blood) in the white.
