Chickens not laying please help

aart, makes a good point about the fruit and veggies, although my chickens get plenty of produce left overs I have not made a connection between their laying and there veggie consumption, but it is certainly possible if they eat to much that it could lower the overall protein in their diet therefore lowering the egg production. Something to keep in mind for sure.

Not just protein.... but the vitamins, minerals, and amino acids needed to assimilate any nutrients, but especially calcium.

aart, It is my understanding that calcium effects the shell of the egg not so much the quantity laid. I have given my chickens a calcium supplement when I've had a few soft shells and that seems to clear it up. I've never noticed a connection between calcium and the number eggs produced though. I could be wrong most of my knowledge comes from owning birds rather than any kind of training. So please let me know if I'm wrong about the roll of calcium.

Correct......the calcium part really isn't pertinent to this thread.
More for shell formation, and the contractions that move the egg out of the bird.
