Chickens not perching

I bought my chickens 2 days ago and after the second night in the coop they still won't perch. I have placed them onto the perch and they hop straight off. Please help because they want to sleep in their nesting boxes which they cannot do.

Have you tried to put them on after they're sleeping? Might have to do this several times until they get it HaHa.you could try an empty milk jug in the nesting boxes to discourage them sleeping there.

Thanks I now have 1 chicken perching but still haven't convinced the second one. Might wait a couple of days to see if she learns.

Awesome, chickens are like kids sometimes, they may need a little more help with things. Repetition should get the message across. Good luck and keep me updated.

You may wish to consider closing off the nesting boxes during the night time. Are the nesting boxes higher than your roosts? If so then either increase the height of your roosting poles or lower the height of your nesting boxes.
