chickens on the roost

OK, so I'm new to this chicken raising thing. I've got 7 hens 18-23 weeks old, and if I go out to check on them after they are on the roost, they have developed their order, but what seems kinda interesting is that they sit every other way: head to butt, head to butt, etc.
I thought that was kinda funny.
Probably on 100% but mostly.

Mine do the same thing. I think it's how they approach the roost or where the available space is that determines how they choose to roost.
