Chickens picking feathers?

I have a couple of cornish x chicks that wont stop picking out the feathers on there rear end. A couple have bald butts, Why are they doing this?

Buy some pinless peepers. Randall Burkey and eggcartons.com sell them, as well as others.

They clip into their nostrils. This was the only thing that stopped the feather picking in my flock.

Once the pecking has subsided and the habit is broken, you can take the peepers off. They're not permanent, and they don't hurt the birds.
