Chickens Pooping On Coop!

We have a mini coop that sits nicely in our run. The coop is shorter then me. Anyways, the chickens like to sit upon it and poop! Yuck.

How do I get then to stop sitting up there?

How do I clean it?

Also, we have several roosts in the run, they never want to use then!

As long as they can gain access to the coop top, they will poop on there. Short of fencing it off, there is no solution that I can think of.

They seem to like flat surfaces...can you alter the surface so that it is not longer flat?
Or try placing some outside roosts...like a long branch just off the ground...perhaps they will sit on that instead.

We have our boxes inside the coop which creates a flat surface - and guess where they like to sit. On the roost?
Nope, on the flat surface. Soooooo...we put a coated metal sheet over the flat surface which allows for easy, easy cleaning.
We put the same coated metal on the threshold of the door because they like to sit there and poop as well (another flat surface).

The metal we use is left over flashing from when we built our house. White and fairly pliable.
