Chickens & Snow - do they get used to it, or do they always hate it?

LOL, I have a couple adopted hens that are like that! We named one Henny Penny, cause she is always running around like the sky is falling! In the last 6 months tho, she has been exposed to everything on a daily basis, and she is getting better, as long as she is near Chester, and he is cooing, she does OK, sounds like you might want to expose your ladies to a bit more stimulus?

Actually they are really just drama queens. Sometimes in the evening when I feed the rest of the animals I find the same two in the nest box. When I open the lid the EE marches out and climbs on to the roost. The Sussex stands up and waits for me to pick her up and place her on the roost.

I hope my feathered employers remember me at Christmas!

My coop door gets opened EVERYDAY - Rain/Sun/Snow/Wind

The first couple of snow falls produce some funny reactions from the girls - but after that they don't care and just do their thing.

I'm thinking of throwing their scratch on the path I walk - so they can scratch it up and prevent it getting icy!

They're pretty darn good at that - where ever the scratch has been there is no ice or snow left they scratched it all away (we haven't had much yet only a few inches) But just walking on that little bit compacts it and makes it icy the next day!

My chickens don't mind it at all. I leave the two ccops open for them to take a break from the weather if needed but they free range in the snow just fine!
