A couple of days ago our largest chicken started crowing like a rooster in the morning. It sounds really loud and is a "hee-hee-hee" sound. We removed her to the garage overnight hoping it would help. This morning the next largest chicken started making the same sound. What is going on?

Here is a picture of the first offender. These are Dorking chickens. Probably around 3 months old.

:welcome! Either they are roosters, or occasionally the most dominant hen in a group of all females will crow. Some full body shots of the two offenders would help us tell whether they are male or female. Also, I'm not sure if you know, but roosters are chickens too. A female chicken is a pullet when she is young and a hen when she starts laying. A male chicken is a cockerel when young and a rooster when older. Just like a male horse is a stallion and a female is a mare, but they are both still horses :)

Thank you for the help. We are brand new to this. We had thought we bought four young pullets, but are now starting to think we got three cockerels and one pullet.

I just took some new photos. Hopefully this will help identify what we have. They are beautiful birds, but not quite appropriate for what we had in mind.
