We just put our chickens in their coop (shed) 3 days ago. Is it natural for them to not g int the run. A few will pop their head out, but if they actually go out it's only for a foot or so and back n.

Be patient with them. They will eventually go out into the run. If you want to hasten the process, use their food to lure them to the door and then afterward, outside.

You are right. Most of them have ventured out for at least a short while. My black sexlinks are living it up digging, eating, catching bugs and worms, and just loving life!! My reds go out, but not as far and not as long, but they'll get there. Not using the roosts yet either, but I will exercise patience there, too. I have been having a ball watch them just be chickens instead of being stuck in the brooder!!

Totally normal, when i threw some youngins' out a few week ago, took a couple days to get 'out there' chickens being prey animals are suspicious of new things, they will get over it and soon they'll be in/out like a revolving door.

They are all out now (besides my 5 week old chicks who are sticking to their corner I set up for them most of the time. The older girls aren't too nice, yet, but getting used to them) just like you said, "like a revolving door." I thought I enjoyed them before. It's really fun watching them in their huge run. They just go crazy. Lol
