Chickens Still Thirsty

Now I'm having second thoughts about changing over to horizontal water nipples. Don't have any chickens right now, have always used the plastic waterer you buy at the feed store, usually keep 4 - 6 chickens at a time. I will be getting a new set of chicks in Sept, frustrating when the chicks get their waters filled with shavings. When they're older it's not so bad since they're outside but do get dirt in the water.

Read about the water nipples & how great they were so thought I'd try it from the start with the next batch. Read not to use until the chicks are at least 8 days old. Like what Rock Home Isle did with the waterer, off the ground & no water puddles, great idea. Since I'll be getting my chicks when the weather will be cooling off, may go the water nipple way & if that don't work out hope Rock Home Isle don't mind my trying out your idea? That's what's great about this sight....Ideas galore!
