chickens stop staying in coop

i have 12 birds that have had for 2 years and some have started to stay in the trees and not go back to coop any reason why thanks all

Could there be something in your coop that's scaring them?

I'm guessing they are not safe from predators in the trees at night. Can you grab them in the dark and put them in the coop? then keeped them locked in for a week or two, so they learn that the coop is home.
