I got two Hen,'s as Rescue's.
Their flock had been killed by a pack of coyotes. Ate them all but these 2 survivors. I'd like to have Egg's but if not they'll be Pet's. Never to see a Freezer or Pot. Anyway since they were terrorized they haven't laid.
They are 18 miles from the incident location & have a secure, Sun & Shade Run & Zero chance of anything getting them & it's peaceful.
To welcome them I bought 250 1 inch Feeder Crickets & let them loose in their Coop. I thought a few might make it & Breed. Nope haven't seen them Since. Not a one. lol.
So, how do you get a Chicken to Reengage into Egg Laying.
Any information would be appreciated.

They are probably in shock. They have witnessed something very traumatizing. They need time to recover. Take it slowly, resocialize them, be kind and quiet. In time they will become normal chickens again.

I've had them since May & got them the day after the incident.
One is a year old & the other on is her Aunt.
We don't have any Roosters as their illigal where I live.

I sit with them & they'll jump in my Lap & let me stroke them gently listening to the Eagles & Fleetwood Mac, low volume. They seem to enjoy it as the kinda Coo while we're interacting.
They do soft Coo's or Clucks when I'm with them & stay on my 6 the entire time I'm caring for their pen ,& run.

I was hoping someone would tell their breed Rhode Island Red's are good Social Bird's I've heard.

What is their regular feed?
Might want to cool it on the treats(like that sweet corn).
Are they totally free range or do they have a coop with roost and nests, and a run?
