Hi,
I suspect my chickens have coryza. I’m taking one to the vet tomorrow to confirm but they meet all of the symptoms. I understand that this usually does not kill birds if treated but the chickens will keep the disease forever. I’m quite conflicted. I have four birds. A lot of previous answers on this thread has been to cull them but I’m not super interested in that especially if the birds seem healthy. Can I still eat their eggs? Is it highly recommend to cull? What about vaccines for future birds. Any advice Is appreciated. I attached a photo of my Roo who is struggling the most

Have you added any new birds recently who may have brought a respiratory disease in? What are all of the symptoms? Both MG and coryza may cause swollen eyelids or faces, and there can be bubbles or foam, or more thick gunk in the eye, nasal drainage, cough or sneeze, and gasping. Does the face of a sick chicken smell bad? Tylsoin or Denagard are good antibiotics that treat MG in the water. Coryza, which has a bad odor, is better treated with sulfadimethoxine, Albon, or trimeth sulfa or SMZ TMP.

No I haven’t had any new chickens, but I do have neighbors that have chickens although mine and theirs rarely interact, and they said they have never had an issue, I also see several wild birds hang around the coop so it could have come from them I suppose, hopefully the vet and tell me what it is tomorrow and help me treat it.
