I am in need of some advice. About a month ago I had a couple of chickens that started sneezing, and then it turned in to crackly breathy and stuffy beaks and watery eyes. Trying to find a vet close to where I am to even talk about chickens was almost impossible, but I found one and he sold me some Sulfadimethoxine and I gave it to them for 5 days mixed into their water as the directions said and everyone is better except for one and she is getting worse so I called back the vet and he said I have done all I could for them and if I had a chicken die he could send it off for tests. I do not like that answer, and I don't want to give up. Does anyone have ideas of what else I can try? Please anything, The sick chicken is about 3 months old. I have seen people talking about Tylan should I try that? Thanks

wow I'm sorry. Sounds kind of like a respiratory infection or infectious broncitis. You can try Duramycin-10 its an antibiotic not sure if that will knock it out but this antibiotic has worked great for me.

You might give another antibiotic a try, the most common is...

Terramycin (Oxytetracycline
safe; use @ 200 mg. To 1000 mg. (1 Gm.) per gallon water; withdrawal time - 5 days

If you have a farm supply store they should have it. Outside other meds you can try apple cider vinegar in there water. (1 TBS per pint of water) If it is weakness then you might take some feed and mix it with Greek yogurt (maybe some banana), let it sit a few min to soften. The little guy might just need some extra help to fight the illness.

Good Luck

Note: Apple Cider Vinegar is a just in case it has beneficial properties, a lot of people stand by the product so I recommend it as a cover your *** treatment.

This antibiotic is more targeted towards respiratory infections you might try it first, the one I suggested is a broad spectrum antibiotic.

I have always had luck with duramycin. Even if it is targeted towards a certain thing doesnt mean it doesnt treat things not listed on the package. I learned that from a very wise old man growing up helping out on his farm when I was a teenager lol. It is true, and doing research om the product will uncover lots that it helps fright. Everyone has had their own luck or lose with meds so of course everyone has their own opinion which is what makes this forum great....
