Chickens trying to confuse me again

Post their pictures
My chickens? I don't think i have any current pictures on my phone. But i don't think thier looks have anything to do with the eggs that they lay...

You acctually have seen the post about the cockerel... Roosty the lavender orpington how only just started getting his feathers

Mildred is a Rir or production red lays nice brown (redish brown eggs) the colors posted above.
In her age group about 2 1/2 to 3 years old all are barnyard mix hens
marshall is a light tan/yellow color lays light tan eggs
Black Betty is presumed to be black austrolorp/ee straight black with nice olive green eggs
And Brown Road Runner is a red mix also lays a light tan egg
Thr next group is 1 1/2 to 2 years old (last year's spring chicks) 2 barred tan eggs similar color to Marshall and brown runner. And 4 EE all greenish blue eggs

This year's chicks include Roosty a 24?week lavender orpington cockerel

Chicka (fluffy) 13 week lavender cockerel
And 6 13ish week red cross sexlink pullets that are simply to young to lay.

But as I said unless Roosty is even more confussed then first expected Mildred had to have laid both eggs between 7am and 3pm today.

OK, now I am confused. You said that you only have one brown egg layer, but then go on to say you have 4 girls that lay tan to brown eggs, one olive egger and 4 EE (green/blue eggs). It is possible that the color can vary in eggs from the same hen -- darker or lighter shades, but the same basic color. Has Black Betty or the 4 EE's laid eggs yet? If not, it is possible that the EE eggs may not be green/blue.

No 4 lay very light tan eggs. No where close to this color brown. Only 1 lays brown. And all 5 of the green layers lay green. These aren't new chickens I've had the first 4 over 2 1/2 years and the second 6 over a 1 1/2 years I know who lays which eggs. I can't always tell which tan is which or which green is which but i do know which colors are whos and I know nip one in my flock can throw that dark of a color fluke. Milderd my only brown layer will sometimes lay a lighter color brown that throws me off for a minute but I can track her laying schedule almost to the day. Infact before we moved I knew all thier laying schedules well enough to predict how many eggs I would get each day in a week

Way back "in the day" I had a sil-go-link hen that would lay 2 eggs in one day about 3 or 4 times a year. I know it was her because she was the only bird I had. So yes, they can sometimes do that. Bertha lived to be almost 9 and never stopped laying except in winter (this was in Minnesota)

If by chance i get 2 brown eggs agian I'm going to have to assume that Roosty is a rooster feathered hen... Though I don't know if that's even possible...

The pic of the Lavender Orpington in the first pic, is that Roosty? Looks like a pullet/hen to me, can't see the comb/wattles. In the group/second pic the Lavenders look pullet/hen, can't see clearly. Perhaps get a good pic of them?

You have a total of 5 chickens; Roosty/Orp, Mildred/RIR, Marshal/mix, Betty Black/Australorp, Road Runner/mix, Chicka/Orp & another Red cross; or amy I confused?

Betty is an australorp ee mix, you also forgot 2 barred rocks and 4 ee. Chicka and the 6 red sexlinked are all only about 13 weeks.

As for Roosty and Chicka yes that's both of them in the pic. Chicka is the smaller obviously. Roosty is part of an on going thread to determine his true identity. That is in no way a good picture if and he does have clear male saddle and hackle feathers though they only just really started coming in about 2-3weeks ago. Chicka has been sporting large comb and waddles for a while now but does not have cickerel feathers yet. My understanding in general with lavender orpington is they can feather much slower then other Orpington. Which only adds to the confussion as they are both my first Orpington and my first cockerels. I'll gladly tag you in that thread so you can see both of thier pictures for yourself. But keep in mind you do need to look through the whole thread as it starts with pics of Roosty at 10weeks and has lots of added pictures as he has grown.

I'm going to go out and check the chickens here in a moment. I need to check mildred over. She spent most of the day up on the top roost looking like a very disgruntled employee today. I want to make sue she is feeling alright. I'm hoping it's just that she was extra tired today from laying 2 eggs yesterday.
