If/when you trap it, please, please, please do not drown it. It's not an evil being, it's a hungry animal following its instincts. Find a humane way to kill it. Drowning is slow, painful, and terrifying, no animal deserves that. It's needlessly cruel. You have the means to give any trapped animals a clean death, so, if you decide to kill it, pick a humane method.

We live in a semi rural area surrounded by wilderness. It won't be a problem to relocate him somewhere where he won't be a problem for anyone else

I have a 22g, and shoot critters in the head if necessary in the live trap. Fast and humane.
If you legally can't do the same, find out what is legal where you live. Animal Control? Your veterinarian? A pest control company? Driving outside the city limits and then shooting?
This weasel won't give up!
I don't know if it's possible to set up electric fencing for weasels/ mink, but maybe check into that too.

Relocation is illegal many places, and often fails too. Your weasel could likely make it home from far away, and does love chicken, so it will look for other flocks on it's path back home too.

You know what, I dropped that trap in the rain barrel and felt enormus relief and satisfaction. I never hesitated. I was thinking of my five friends that truly suffered and who I had to bury. Drowning is quick. Each his own. Don't relocate. You just give your problem to someone else.

I definitely won't be giving my problem to someone else..that would be terrible I agree

And if you think a weasel kills five chickens because he is hungry, and would have killed everything in my coop by morning if I had not heard the screaming. My coop now has no holes or gaps. Not even a mouse gets in.

Weasels are terrible I agree they kill everything in the coop. I have heard raccoons will do the same but in my experience they steal a bird one by one. Weasels seem to kill just for the sake of killing
