Hi. I am writing this from Melbourne Aus. I have had my four chickens for approx 5 weeks. They were ex battery hens. My problem is is that two of them tend to walk sideways and at times in circles. I am concerned that this may be due to some type of brain defect. I have no idea how old they are and they didnt seem to have this problem when I first got them but developed in the past two weeks or so. I feed them good quality layer pellets and lots of vegetale scraps. I didnt get any eggs from them for the first two weeks but now get maybe three a week(winter here so I've heard they dont lay a lot in winter). Not sure what sort of chooks they are(red ones!!!). the two that are walking funny also are missing quite a few feathers. Help please. Am feeling a little dishearetened . Thought I would do the right thing by 'saving' them but feel sad when I see them not doing so great. Cheers

We rescued a kitten a few years ago. The following day we took her to the vet for a check up. He found fleas and applied a liquid medication. Later that day she began walking in circles and we immediately returned to the vet and were told that rarely this medicine can be neuro toxic. She underwent many treatments in an attempt to save her without success. I hope you Chickens weren't exposed to some neuro toxic substance.
