My lovely yellow goldens.

He'll have one more molt before he has his adult plumage....the barring in his wing feathers are still there with this molt. Here's a couple of mine for reference.

Such wonderful birds!

Yes I noticed and was quite suprised, but either way I am so pleased with how he is coming along! Some of the protective layers are coming off orange mantle feathers as well now. In another couple of weeks he will be a proper jewel. ❤️
He is in really good condition too and I am very pleased with that.

I've understood they really hit their prime after a couple of years or more?

That's spectacular!

I'm sure Sean will be along to tell you what the progression looks like. I've only had mine for maybe 14 months? 13 months? If have to look at when they hatched.

But my understanding is that Goldens hit their full adult plumage in their second year of life, and can live a fairly long time compared to many domestic birds.

You are correct sir!!! They will have their adult plumage at 2 years. Mine typically have their adult plumage at 16 to 18 months....Amherst seem to take longer, right at the 2 year mark.
Oh, BTW @ChikaInu it's not a mantle, it's a cape!
