Chickens wasting SO much feed!!!!!

My feeder looks a lot like yours, but I bought mine at the store. I should have made one like yours instead of paying for it. LOL I don't have any waste with my feeder though, so I guess it's working.

Can you post a pic of yours? I would love to see it.

Here is what I came up with when I was having the same issue. Pretty much zero waste that I can tell. I have one in the coop and one in the run.

Just made it from some leftover plywood from the coop build.

It's dark outside right now, but I'll get a picture tomorrow.

Mine is basically a metal trough with a bar over the top of it.

I came across an article that measured waste in relation how much the feeder is refilled.
The least waste was when it was filled to about 25%. I stopped filling mine all the way up
and a lot less got tossed onto the ground.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Here is a pic of my feeder:

It cost me about $25 at the Big R here in town. I probably could have made one like yours for cheaper than that though.

If I had seen your pictures before I bought mine I would have tried it. lol

I'm liking the looks of the feeder seattlehens83 has made.

I made a few like the pic below for less than $10 bucks and they work ok... but I have notice some waste if I give more than they will eat in a 24hr period.
