We recently started our new venture into chicken raising. We noticed two of our chickens have matted or clumped feather on where their winds connect to their body. One chicken has an odor at the spot resembling infection smell. Anyone have any clue what it could be? They are red sexlinks roughly 18 weeks old

Sounds like a bacterial or fungal skin infection or an injury that got infected. Clean up the area with some Epsom salt on a washcloth with warm water and then you can treat with Neosporin (without pain relief as it is toxic to birds) or Vetericyn Plus spray on the area. Treat with either everyday until the infection clears. I hope this helps and I hope she gets well soon!! :)

Hi I was wondering if you found out what was wrong? The same exact thing is happening to my chicken and has the bad odour too! Please let me know how you fixed it?
