Chickens with our Other pets! post em here!

This might be new. How about chickens and dogs sharing a walnut cake? And eating it at the same time?

A Walnut cake shared amongst 23 chickens and 2 Airedale terriers. Rummy stays back and lets everyone have a share, before he makes his move. He is a gentle dog when it comes to chickens, but not with snakes, mice or other rodents, or neighbor dogs.

Kimi, my older Airedale digs in with the birds all around him, sharing a cake together. Imagine the sugar high everyone is going to have after the cake experience.

Everyone takes a turn, and almost everyone gets a share.

This is SengKnet (crooked neck). Because we were treating her for Crook Neck, she stayed indoors longer than anyone else, and as such, is also the boldest and most comfortable with the dogs. She is a White crested black polish. She is now fully recovered and is blending well in the flock.

While she was being treated for crook neck, we let her sleep in the house in the seclusion box, so she could feel warm with the special heat lamp and get added treats and vitamins etc,

Rummy would nuzzle close to her while we let her relax with the family in the evenings. In the daytime, we let her back into the flock, and night time, we'd take her in. Rummy always showed extra attention to his birds if he got the chance to.

And of course, my all time fav pic,

Rummy and his fav blue Cochin when it was itsy bitsy tiny.

And now when Smokey is all grown up,

They are still best of buds.

These two simply amaze me because I've never seen such kinship between a dog and a chicken before. From the moment they set eyes on each other, they've been bound together with a special thread.

Rummy follows Smokey around like a little lost puppy. Smokey is also the top cockerel now.

My cats and dogs mainly ignore the chickens, which is what I want. I don't care if they "like" each other or not, so long as they don't mess with them.

My Chow Chow dog and Mr Red the roo actually don't get along that great, but even she can ignore him, I thought this pic came out pretty funny!

Howwww?!
My 4.5 month old pitty tries to play with my chickens like they are dogs!
He accidentally killed his favourite one!
She would always let me paw her or sniff her.. but he tried to pick her up and iguess it snapped her neck.. he still tries to play with them, and I've tried SO hard to teach him they ARENT dogs! He's the same with the cat! Puts her head in his mouth! bites and pulls! Everything is a toy to him! It's so frustrating

My cat on the other hand.. is the chicken protector. occasionally she chases them around.. but she sleeps outside at night - most of the time under their coop. and iis always lounging on the roof of the coop.. or the tarp covering some of the run watching them. She's really good with them!

Thanks BunnyMomma,

I'm so blessed to have 2 very wonderful fursons, and so many feathered children. I love my dogs so much, and I am so happy that we were able to incorporate the birds into the pack. Now we have peace on earth in our little corner of Washington, and it is the greatest thing on earth. When all the living things here are in harmony, there is peace in my heart, and I can't describe the peace and contentment I feel.
