My first move would be to put VetRx in the waters. It's an oily medication that floats, so the chicken get a drink & it gets on their beak which then gets breathed in through their nostrils & works to open their breathing passages. For a start you can drop a drop or two on the beak/nostril area instead of hoping they get to the water right away. It has never shown to be toxic, you can get it at a poultry feed store or online, not too expensive & it is very helpful for respiratory/head cold issues. Best wishes.
