Ugh. This chicken thing isn't as fun as I had hoped. So...been noticing decreased egg production, could be heat, start of molt (never seen a molt) etc. Now, one chicken has what looks like mud on her comb and wattles that has a dark bluish hue as well as under her eyes and another has what looks like bruised under eyes as well. My originals had some sneezes when I first got them, treated with Tylan and got better, some sneezing reoccurred about a week or two ago though. I am tired of these not so fun puzzles. Any advise? Mycoplasma maybe? I have 30 more babies coming next week. Pretty bad timing.

I would totally post some pics but the phone on my camera has been broken for like six months. :(

I'm so sorry your not having a good experience with your birds! You might consider getting some blood work done on them so you know EXACTLY what your up against! I'd consider putting off the arrival of new chicks until you know exactly what your dealing with because if its contagious and your birds are carriers its likely to infect the chicks! Also you will know if its possible to vaccinate your new birds against what ever illness is going through the flock. The very best advice I can give you is to get the lab work done! This takes all the guessing away and you will know exactly what your dealing with and can treat it accordingly. If you don't your risking the new birds acquiring the same illness and the cycle will continue. I really hope this helps and do wish you the best of luck! Once you know what you're dealing with you can move forward from there and hopefully have better experiences with your new birds! Good luck and God bless.

when my red star hens do their dust bathing.their faces get very dirty.one of them has been wearing dirt caked under her eyes, for at least a month.if I did not know what it was I would be worried.maybe it just dirt.

Thank you for the great advice!! I have been researching non-stop and think I have a plan. I even made a thread called what I have learned about mycoplasma/crd.
