chickens wont lay

I have a friend who has chickens and they were going thru a moult 3 months ago. They haven't layed since then except for 6 eggs. What is going on and what can be done. They are on laying feed and have oyster shell also. Please help....thanks

We've always kept a light on the winter to add light. It comes on around 5 a.m. and then again from 4 - 8 p.m. Even so, I had a few hens that simply didn't lay over the winter at all.

If they free range, they may be laying outside the coop
Lock them up a couple of days and you'll quickly find out.

Otherwise you just have to be patient
