chickens

I kind of feel that way about keeping cat's inside all their life. I should be allowed to let them into the back yard or garage for tinkle etc, but there are member here that feel they should never be allowed into the yard if coyotes are around. Of course I have two big dogs that ate the only two chickens that ever stepped out of our pen and if I let them out for their nightly run, we'd have no more chickies. :| I guess it's a compromise

Purplechicken, I only use the silkies for bait.

And mine get to free range before it gets dark, and their run is 10 x 24, with shade.
I don't know about the jail thing-my chicks spent 10 days in a rubbermaid box, now they're in the bathtub and they think its paradise !!!!
