Stopped by Shays this morning to drop of 4 chicks that were from eggs she so kindly donated to my nephews science class for their Embryonic Studies program. I went to the school yesterday because he got to choose 4 chicks from the rotation of students that were allowed to bring chicks home. It was good to see that the parents that showed up with boxes and carriers were at least already chicken owners, so they will know what to do with raising the little ones. My nephew felt like the king of his class because his aunt and her friend were the egg donors! LMBO

the teacher was so happy to have such a variety of colors, breeds and sizes that she asked if I could get eggs for the class again next year. So I am putting out the feelers for more egg donors for a year from now! hahaha

Anyhoo...After i went to look at a rabbit in Fitchburg, I stopped at the Townsend Library where Shay, Jose and Jackie were set up with chickens and related stuff to do a nice presentation out at their booth for Food and Farm Day. The birds looked so good and were very well behaved! Thanks again Shay for helping with the donated eggs and all the other things you have helped me out with. Talk soon!

I have a rooster, who's pic I posted a bit back in this thread. I need to rehome him, asap. Quite frankly, he can go in a soup pot if someone is so inclined. (we are not, as we are vegetarians) He has taken to chasing my youngest son, who is a little peanut and wants nothing more than to go out with the chickens and collect eggs. This rooster chases him EVERY time and has clawed him up pretty badly. It is very scarey for my son and I have tried everything to get this roo to stop, to no avail. UNfortunately, we can't come to the July swap as we will be at a wedding. I also have 4 baby roo's that need to go...very cute, but I think we are going to be roo-less for a while, except for my daughter's d'uccle roo(s).

Thanks in advance!
Julie

If you're too far from Westford you could always try craigslist.

Which reminds me I need to sort through my roos soon and take some over to Tom.

Westford isn't TOO far, its a little bit of a ride but if y'all think its a good option, then that is what I will do. I am going to donate the babies to the raffle for the Swap, but this guy has to go NOW. I will give him a call and set up a time. Thanks gals!

You don't even have to set up a time. He has a bunch of cages on his driveway where you can leave birds. Every time I've gone over there he was outside anyway.

Anyone looking for Pekins? A friend of mine has 10 white youngsters she wants to rehome. I forgot to ask her how old they are (I'm guessing 8 weeks?) but I can find out tomorrow. There seems to be more females than males. I can take a trip to her place this weekend and find out for sure how many of each if anyone wants to know.
