Was going through the Favs the other day and recalled meeting someone at one of Shay's swaps looking for off colored ones and we were talking about that Sarah's line gets odd colored males. Can't remember who it was (I know age), anyway there is one in the older group and maybe one in the younger group would have to look at him again. Here is a picture of the older boy.

I would bet it was Chickie'sMoma.

I have a LF chick that reminds me of this one. I sent a picture to Dick to see what he thought. At the moment I'm not sure if it's a roo or pullet.

I think you are right.. let me know what he says about the color, she gets maybe one in every 25 chicks, also sometimes some of the pullets are very dark. These are for sure male

Have you ever kept one to see how he matures?

My understanding was that the general consensus on Salmon Faverolles is that they are a silver mahogany wheaten genotype. Perhaps it is some other red enhancer?

Aren't the mahogany roos black breasted reds? what would that be, gold mahogany wheaten?

I'm waiting to hear what he says. I know eventually he wants to work with the mahoganies again and who knows, maybe these roos could help.

Do you know if there will be someone there who may be able to tell me if I have boys or girls? I have 6 7wk old chicks my silkie hatched and I would probably have to part with the boys (and of course get some girls to replace them, lol) I posted pics here but I guess no one knew as I had no replies...they are awful cute but they are mutts so I would simply give them to a good home. I have some suspicions, but as a newbie I certianly can't be sure. I don't want to pack them up and bring them out unless there will be someone there who could help me as I don't want to stress them out for no reason.

bring them there are enough of us where we can duke itout over which is which on what is boys and girls, silkies are tricky but Shay has teh best idea of whats what, she hasnt been wrong too many times.

Awesome! I will bring them out and hope to find her!

They are all RIR/cochin cross, with possibly an EE/cochin/RIR cross in there. Dad was a RIR, and my girls are cochins and silkies but I don't think I have any silkies in the mix as they all look to have combs. Oh, wait, one doesn't...and one has sort of a mutant looking comb...
