There is a new USDA certified proccessing facility in Westminister, VT. It is called Wesminister Meats. They process birds in lots and I think he said $5 a bird.

Very worth while for me since I can NOT do the deed myself.

I got a nice EE/polish from Muffi at the end of May. We were thinking it was a girl (i wanted a girl), but Muffi had said if it turned out to be a boy, she could take him back for breeding. Just this morning, this chicken CROWED TWICE right in front of me, so obviously it is BOY! I asked Muffi if she'll take him back, but she is not able to anymore. So i really need to rehome him, as it makes TOO MANY boys for our size flock!

He is a very nice bird, tall and strong, grey in color. Anyone want him? Just to get rid of him, i'll GIVE him away, and i really don't care what becomes of him---i just can't keep him, and i don't process birds myself.

I will NOT be able to make this swap on the 18th, we have to go to Maine to get my boys from their grandparents. But i'm hoping to figure out how i could get this roo to someone who is going to the swap----IF someone wants him of course. So if someone wants him, please let me know! Thanks!

Abby

Gypsy- I'm not bringing any livestock, just veggis & handmade stuff. The veggies will likely be cukes, zukes, green beans, herbs, scallions, & might have peppers ready. I can bring potted tomato plants, pepper plants, eggplant plants if you want.

I am sorry that I am unable to take him. (Don't worry, folks, I'm making it up to her by giving her a beautiful Ameraucana hen that lays lovely blue eggs). I was hoping to breed him to my cuckoo maran to make some nice dark olive eggers! But due to medical issues, I'm having to cut back my flock size and keep my breedings focused on just one or two projects. It's too bad. He's a lovely blue boy. Here's an old picture, before we knew it was a boy:

To help reduce my flock size, I'll be having a $5 clearance sale of my remaining goslings, Muscovy ducklings, and EE "pullets" (after what happened with howardacres and GailChickie, I have no faith in my ability to tell the gender of any chicken until it crows or lays and egg).

I will probably take her with her babies! That will be a cute addition to the flock. I might be looking for a NICE cochin roo (bantam) if anyone has one, not sure what color, but will hceck out any there.
