Just to clarify a few things the law in mass is limit is 6 day old chicks when they reach four weeks of age they can be sold at 1 or 2 or 3 as many as please i have no promblem at selling two chicks as easter to a family this helps to get familys and there children into chickens. And they may want three of my breed and three of another persons breed Any one who has an issue with the way that peaple that come to this chickenstock sell there poultry does not have to attend, any one seen causing any drama or bickering or causing any issues will be asked to leaves . i know everyone who attends and all always make sure they feel the buyer out. Even it does not have to be that ways . I for one will be getting into meat turkeys this year (certain breed for meat not the ones i have nowhere ) . So if any personal opinions that causes issues do not post them on this thread keep issues to private pm pleased . The folks that attends to this thread and these chickenstocks come to be able to talk and sell buy new and different types of breeds and to get some new breeds known out there that they work hard one .

Is the snow gone yet lol, we still have tons, but supposed to get rain here this week end so melt off and floods, we just can't win!!!!!

I search the CL ads in several states, even as far away as KY on a daily basis and have been for several years, I have NEVER seen chicks offered for sale and promoted as an Easter commodity, I would like for anyone else on this thread to please post weather they have either.

It wasn't posted like that. It was just posted as chicks, and when I emailed, I found that she had been given them as a gift in a basket. Which I thought is what I said before, but I must not have been clear enough. I'll try harder to be more clear. Hopefully I won't find another instance, but if I do, do you want me to message you instead because we're heading off topic?

I worked in animal rescue for years with the Mass. SPCA with Offficer Caufield, Yes I go back that far, so I am perfectly aware of the idiots that you speak of, but posting ads on CL or contacting the state is only going to draw NEGATIVE attention and not end in anything positive for the people that work hard at putting the swaps together.

Who's going to the state? I'm confused where that came from.
I did re-think posting a warning on CL, if only because it would give somebody the idea to do exactly that which I'd be trying to prevent.

As i mentioned in my earlier post, we are very good at judging the prospective buyers of our birds and also deal with a lot of our buyers even before the actual swaps are held, so we know why they are buying the chicks or hens or bunnies for that matter. A lot of the people that sell at these swaps also work in the veterinary field, rescue organizations etc...we are not out to put our animals into bad situations.

I know, that's how I met Henpen

My blue Ameraucana is already broody, BTW! A bit early, but I'm excited.
I saw a guy at the swap (it was either the July or Aug meet) talk about buying a single EE so he could have different colored eggs every day, but I never saw if he bought a hen. I hope that its because none of us wanted to send a hen home with him.
As for the drama comment, you would need to red back into the archives to see what that comment pertains to,and it all started because myself and a few others started to install regulations as to how animals were handled at the swaps.

I'll read back- I think I know why that issue was raised, if I'm thinking of the same dealer as you.

Cool, I am interested to see how the Welsummers turn out for you.

I have 2 welsummers in my older flock, and i totally LOVE them! NICE hens! Good layers, and they have a large size pretty speckled egg.

Did you order hens or straight run? Can't wait to see pics.

Hi,
Unfortunately we don't. I can probably locate some for you, though.

ETA: I can, they are 2.00 per pack.... it would take me about a week to get them.
