Yes, cool and raining here today---big difference from Wednesday and Thursday! I have 6 ducklings hatched and one half-zipped and one more pipped. Some Khaki's, some Buffs, and maybe a couple Buff/Blue Swedish mixed.

but now I have all my testing numbers back and I am all official and stuff

I have several baby roosters to bring next time, along with a GORGEOUS cochin/RIR roo...all are free, we can only have one rooster and my daughter wants to start raising d'Uccles so...my cochin/RIR is about a year old and he is such an awesome rooster...he is sweet with the girls, and saved them all from a fox *situation* we had this spring. I hate to part with him but Hubby(and I am sure the neighbors agree) one rooster is enough. Sigh. Here is a pic...

Oh boy! Just what we need more rain. I guess the folks with ducks dont mind it, the ponds are staying full. I need to get into the coop because my broddy is hatching out chicks, found one poor little guy dead yesterday. It must have gotten out of the nest and gotten chilled. I think I will take her and the chicks and put them in a seperate cage. Hope the rest of everyones weekend is going as well as possible.

I sold 10 ducklings today!

People answering either my ad in the local classified paper or my craiglist ad. I am super pleased! We still have a few more ducklings left, because i hatched 7 in the last few days! LOL I also have my silkie ducklings available. I had quite a few people interested, but so far, none came through for buying them. They are very cute and friendly, so we are enjoying them while we wait for someone (or some ones) to decide they want them. If we still have them, we'll bring them to Shay's swap (provided nothing comes up to prevent us form going to the swap).

I'm very excited about your next chickenstock!! This time I've finally convinced my husband to go with me. I wonder if he'll notice when I buy chickens if he is there? He's such an enabler and usually lets me think he doesn't notice.

However, I'm still always looking for pure bred polish and sultans.

My poor broody cochin has been setting on the dishpan nest of eggs for so long. Yesterday there was a dead chick

that got out of the pan and must have chilled and died, and this morning another one. So I decided to clean out the whole coop and see exactly what was what in that dishpan. Well, she must have been on about 40 eggs,

some were cracked, there were some chicks that must have hatched out but died that got shuffled to the bottom at some point, and about 20 more eggs. I tossed the whole thing out.. The stench off of it was gagging!

So in another corner was a small clutch of eggs another broody has been off and on setting. i got a clean cage and put the cochin and those eggs in it. She is so happy

because now she has food and water within reach and hopefully she will hatch something from these few eggs. Poor thing wants to be a mom so bad.
