Is anyone bringing Silkies? I was looking to take the 3 hour road trip. We went away last week and the neighbors daughter who was supposed to take care of my 14 babies, moved a level brick that their waterer was on (water ran out in about 30 mins each day) and I lost 8 of my babies. I was able to save 6 by the skin of my teeth. I am looking for B/B/S and buff. If anyone is planning on bringing some, please PM me. Thanks

lol, Muffi...I am SURE they will do something else! I am already invisioning them sitting in the window sills and waiting for us in the morning! Those are roosts, we'll see if they use them. Only half of my other chickens use the roosts, the rest perch on the edges of the nesting boxes...oy!

Is anyone interested in a 2 mo old pair of Greenhead Australian Spotted bantam ducks? Here is a link to a discussion thread on them with lots of pictures.

They are a wonderful duck and fun to have around, friendly and personable. I purchased the parents Bella & Bo in October 2009 from Holderreads and these two (as well as another female that I'm keeping) are the first ducklings my pair has hatched. I will only sell them to someone who will keep them in a predator protected environment with yard netting and will not free range. I'd also be willing to house them for awhile longer (with full payment in hand) if that is something anyone is interested in as well. The pair is $65.00 firm - which is less than what I paid for the parents.

Please PM if interested otherwise I won't be bringing them to the swap next week.

Thanks Joanne aka Sianara

i wish i could interest my dh into letting me get ducks! this is the breed i've been wanting to get! i've been reading that they are very friendly and also one of the quieter breeds. how good are they with their egg laying abilities for you Sianara?

This eve we saw a duck in the road in front of the house. Scared that it was one of ours, we raced outside just in time to see it get hit. OMG! We grabbed it and raced to the house. Poor girl! A female mallard. Not one of ours but, still a sweet little soul. Died. A few seconds earlier and we could have saved her. Looked like a young duck, must have been confused. RIP. Sweet girl.
