sounds like the little man was trying to take over lol. I too dust everyone I buy just in case. you know someone who dubs? glad your mom is eating. that is unusual. I love my auacana. is yours getting red under the chin? mine is. do you think we could find someone to remove the crow if necessary? I really want to keep this one. it is so sweet! you picked one out for me with a great personality for sure. cheryl came home from the swap with 4 doz eggs also. you guys are too funny!!!!! we really do need a support group. " step away from the chicken"

I dont see any red, but the 2 I have are sooo friendly, they jump out the door of the cage looking for attention. The black silkie/polish cross is also so nice too that I got that day!

this week mine has started jumping out for attention too!

I now have three very full bators going and one in lockdown. I just had to help one out a little. I have been hearing it peep for two days now and when I went to take out the one that hatched yesterday it was really chirpping away to me. The hole wasn't much bigger than it was when I checked on it last night and it sounded distressed so I just helped it finish zipping and its a good thing I did. It is huge. It couldn't move to zip. I warmed up a facecloth and just managed to get the top half of the shell and membrane off it and it popped his/little head out and I put it back in to let it finish hatching.
I hate not being able to see in there to see what is going on. It does hold the temps real good though.
I filled the bottom with water again while I had it open. I am hoping I didnt let out too much humidity.

omg 6 doz!!!

My chickies are healthy. I thought they give you a NPIP # but Cindy says you have to apply for the number so she is sending me the paperwork.

I had read a story about a lady in the predator and pest section on BYC that told about a hawk attacking her daughter or grandaughter last year so it can and does happen. I lost a few hens to hawks this past fall and they hunkered under the deck all winter. I think now that they have been free ranging they are drawing the hawks attentions. I just happened to be in between the hawks path and the hens protective nature and got clipped! Left for work with a really nice hairdoo too!
