I'm getting another puppy spot ad. These are literally two warning signs that you're looking at a BYB. Nobody can 'guarantee health', and what do they mean 'vetted breeders'? Because that's saying that the breeders have gone to a vet. Has nothing to do with the dogs. What a buyer trap. I swear, these make me so mad. 'See puppies'. I get similar ads for clothing stores. Individual puppies and breeds are not interchangeable: you shouldn't be able to browse a neatly organized website and pic your future dog based on one little photo. It kills me that they've made an Amazon for puppies, complete with delivery. I've looked at that site, and they even list badges on the puppies-like 'Amazon's choice' or 'best seller', but instead 'champion bloodline' and 'health guarantee'. And they're holding a doodle puppy that is definitely going to have some major health issues. This makes me want to throw things.

Not arguing at all and I know they're still rather different, but I know a lot of betta breeders will put each individual fish on their website so you can pick that particular one.

Also by better breeders, I think they mean the breeder people, not breeder dogs have been checked out to be legit. That's what it seems to me at least, not that they were just seen by a vet

Yeah, I get that with fish. However, there isn't that big a variety in personalities between fish, and they don't have the potential to seriously injure their owners. A irresponsibly bred GSD could kill if it put its mind to it, and here they're selling them for $5,000 with no care for anything accept money. A responsible breeder won't let you choose a puppy of your choice, period. First they carefully screen you, making sure you'll be a responsible owner and are the perfect fit for their breed, then they have you sign a bunch of contracts about what the breeder has permission to do if you mistreat the puppy (in other words, they can take the puppy back if they feel you're not providing adequate care), then they do temperament tests and observe the puppies before *finally* matching you with a carefully selected puppy that they chose. That's why I, unlike the rest of my family, don't dislike breeders. The good ones are improving the breed. The bad ones however, are essentially killing shelter dogs (https://rufflyspeaking.net/how-to-kill-a-shelter-dog/) See why there's a problem with buying any puppy, of any breed, from a puppy mill, whenever you want (this is not aimed at you, just a rhetorical question for anybody reading this)?
I would agree with you for your second point, but I've heard a LOT about people putting phrases on their breeder pages about health and vets that doesn't mean anything. Plus, every. Single. Mass puppy seller ever, or even breeder database, like that claims over and over how their breeders are carefully screened, and they only choose the best of the best, and less than 1% of applicants are accepted, etc. I've also discovered that just because a breeder/site claims something, you can't go on the principle 'well, even if they didn't run every single one of these tests needed to produce a flawlessly healthy puppy, they must have done a lot because they know that in order to produce happy puppies they need to do these checks'. Honestly, researching breeders has been a huge call back to reality for me. Just because they know that this and that are needed for healthy and happy puppies, it doesn't mean that they'll do anything more than claim they did this and that.

Sorry, more ranting because this has all been bottled up inside me for way to long without anyone to talk to about it XD

That's a fair point. Just figured I'd offer my interpretation to see if anything was missed.

And yeah, be hard pressed to find a betta male that could kill a person if it did snap

A fish is by no means a puppy. You match puppy to family. Not bought like a stuffed animal.

Well I wouldn't say that fish are like stuffed animals either

And I did say they were more than likely different, just figured I would mention what I had experienced when it comes to buying individual animals online

Just can’t compare buying a fish with a puppy. Lots of breeders do sell this way, highly un reputable. They even have a SKU code, pay online and they will ship it right out
