Chickentrain's Dog Q&A

Hi all, I haven't been on for a while now:rolleyes:. @black_cat how did you manage to get into junior handling? Do you know if they require the dog to be registered to a kennel?
I'm taking a handling class at a local training club. There aren't any junior handling classes near me, but I checked in with the people running the class and I was like 'hey is it ok that my dog is a puppy and also that I'm a kid'' and they were like 'yeah sure'
I know that per rules of AKC junior handling, any dog that you're handling in a competition has to be owned or co-owned by you or a family member, and has to be an AKC registerable breed (no doodles allowed). I'd assume that the dog has to be registered.

okay. That explains it.

Also, I have a new question for everyone. My youngest husky is already 7 months, yet she can only hold her bladder for 3 hours. I have seen that most dogs are able to hold it for at least 7 hours at this point. Could there be a problem? It is very difficult and sometimes frustrating trying to time the moment she needs to go. :hmm

We're not vets. Try the vet

My dogs eating her raw food to fast, ideas for a small slow feeder that can go in the dish washer?

I don't know what texture food you are dealing with. If it's meat on a bone, serve it as a single big chunk that she has to chew. If it's gooey and ground up, smear it all over a plate or bowl so she has to lick it up. If it's small chunks, maybe put a small bowl upside down in a large bowl, and dump the food all around the space between them.

Why is fast a problem? I think it's normal for dogs to eat fast

After she has eaten she starts whining and some times howling, she does not do this when she has eaten slowly

mostly mince and small chunks

Then putting some object in the dish will probably help-- a bowl or a cup or even some spoons might slow her down and would still be dishwasher safe. Or just spreading the food out in a large dish might slow her down enough to make a difference. Or maybe put the food in many sections of a muffin pan 🤔

For actual sold-for-dogs slow feeders, I have no idea, so I'm just suggesting things based on what's in my own kitchen :D
