I have a story about one...
A woman contacted me about spinning some dog hair from her Norwegian Elkhound, and then knitting it into a sweater for her son. I told her that it would spin well, but would feel very "picky" since it was a mix of the coarse outer coat and the finer undercoat, and that I'd have to use some wool, as there wasn't enough for a sweater. She was fine with that; she wanted a jacket type of sweater.
I met her dog, whose name was Widget, and a SWEET, beautiful girl. She sat next to me, looked at me with those big brown eyes. The woman told me when they got her, the breeder said that the puppy would get to be big-ish. Some people might think she was a guard dog, so please don't name her something like "Killer," as N.E.s could look intimidating. So they named her Widget.
I thought that was such a cute name, I named my Jubilee Orpington chick Widget after her.
