Thank you! why the sports question?

You want to do dryland mushing, right? If there's not a single breeder in your area who does anything other than conformation, it might be difficult to get a dog to mush with.

Probably a polite way to ask, "Can they do anything other than look pretty?"

That wasn't what I intended- for example, with golden retrievers, I'm going to assume that any of them could do obedience/rally if the owner wished (Finn is from a puppy mill and we are), because a good breeder of goldens should be creating biddable animals. However, if I wanted to do something more 'out there', I would want to know if there were any lines in my area that have done it.

I"d ask around at the show, just to see if it's done in your area. For example, there are very few breeders in my area that hunt with their golden retrievers, or produce dogs for hunting homes.

At the first show I went to when I wasn't showing, I asked this question of a lot of breeders and it was very interesting just to see what people compete in as well.

Went to the samoyed show today. They are so fluffy! And friendly! we found somebody whose dogs we liked unfortunately they aren’t breeding anymore, but they said they will point use towards a breeder who is breeding from their line! Most of the dogs we liked at the show where from their line

Somebody was getting ride of a lot of their samoyed stuff at the show my mother went to look and came back with 3 books and a show lead. 2 of the books where free! When we got home I looked up the price of show leads out of curiosity, the type of one we got is about 17-24 pounds, not the cheapest thing, so I ask my mother how much this one was, turns out it was free! Apparently it needs refurbished not sure in what why it looks fine to me (I will try and get pictures of it), it also doesn’t come with a collar

Oh yeah, show leads, especially nice ones or custom ones, are hella expensive

Speaking of nails, how often do you all trim your dogs' nails? I trim once a week. I couldn't believe most places recommend trimming once a month! ??
