So you shouldn't just breed random dog breeds? Or is it related to your experience level and thought that goes into the breeding?
If you just breed two dogs, sometimes the puppies come out healthy, and everyone is happy.

But sometimes the puppies have some sort of problem.

If you learn what to watch out for (certain things common in one breed, same or different things common in another breed), then you can breed two dogs and have a much better chance of having healthy puppies.

Also, if the breeder does not pay attention to what's right for the breed, the puppies might not have the right traits. If a person breeds two dogs that are bigger than they should be, they might produce puppies that are larger yet. If they breed two dogs that are supposed to have upright ears, but the ears flop instead, they are more likely to produce puppies that also have floppy ears. And so forth. The dogs might still live a healthy, happy life if they don't meet the breed standard, but the people who bought them are likely to be unhappy about not getting what they thought they were paying for!
