Oh, so like dappled ish, with splotches
Here is what you are looking for in a merle dog

View attachment 2556841 No piebald, clearly not double merle, not a ton of white on the face
GORGEOUS. AMAZING.
Here is bad, double merle, see the piebald markings of the merle splotches? View attachment 2556842
Does the depigmentation affect the nose too?
This dog doesn't look double merle, But it is. It doesn't have the pink pigment, but the entirety of the dog, besides the face, is white. BAD! View attachment 2556843
It looks like someone photoshopped a merle face on a white dog
Another bad example of merle. Notice how there isn't much merle on the face, and none on the body as far as we can tell? bad. View attachment 2556847

*pretend this dog is merle* this dog would be blind if it where merle View attachment 2556849

So, why is it bad? any merle dog with a lot of white markings, has double merle in their pedigree, which gives them the likelyhood of being blind and deaf.
There's nothing wrong with a blind and or deaf dog but it's probably not what I'm looking for, and obviously breeding where you KNOW you'll have health issues is awful
any merle with a white face is lacking pigment around their eyes and they have the likeyhood of being blind. I think this is possible with any dog with extreme white markings on the face
What about plain white dogs?

hes so merle that he is fully white. people breed double merles, despite the health issues, because a double merle x non merle dog = 100% merle. And I don't know if you've noticed, but EVERTHING is merle now and everybody wants merle

meanwhile the responsible way to breed merle, merle x non merle will produce 25%-50% merle.
Oh, okay. I just wasn't sure if he was badly bred or just white

Plain white dogs CAN be deaf. there is usually ALWAYS a deaf dog in dalmatian litters, its just what it is. Not as common, though.

And yes, the lack of pigment in the dogs skin makes the nose pink. Adorable, but so wrong
