Those bowl holders also hold the bowl securely so that when they lick it clean, the bowl doesn't slide across the floor. Or get dumped over.

Big yes on the Dremel tool. Get the puppy used to it early! So much easier to do their nails when they aren't freaking out.

And one thing you have to have on hand (lots and lots): Patience! Training a puppy take gobs of patience. But they repay it back hundred fold in love.

Also when they eat all of their food in less than 30 seconds, as every retriever that I have ever met does

Eating that fast isn't healthy, ditch the bowl. Buy different puzzle-feeders and snuffle mats, it's more enriching for the dog.
Our dog is fed in different ways for every meal, she has at least six different enrichment feeders, and we often use meals as training opportunities to give her a mental workout.
