Chickentrain's Dog Q&A

When I last walked her, a week or two ago, I didn’t want to use the choke chain on her so I put on her harness and used a regular leash, and she did great on quiet streets, in the woods, and on busy roads (walk included all three). I don’t know if anything has happened since then to make her unwalkable, but she goes insane when she sees me (I give her bellyrubs and have she has never had a negative experience with me) so maybe she’s walking better otherwise.
I don’t think that they usually use the flexi, I think that they grabbed it by accident in a haste to get out of the house bc she just came out of her crate
Also, the look on her face when I was like "Maybe in the future, don't use the choke chain with the retractable leash, because it's pulling it constantly tight so it doesn't allow you to make corrections?" I GUARANTEE that whatever trainer told her to use it called it a slip collar.

Finn's doing great with other dogs, these three dogs that were super reactive (started barking and pulling as soon as he came into view) came past and he didn't start barking too or anything, it was great

do you use a treat pouch? what do you use?

I have this one :https://www.amazon.com/Paw-Lifestyl...ywords=dog+treat+pouch&qid=1619278651&sr=8-15

I LOVE IT!! but the mesh on the front is falling apart, the zipper on the front is busted, and its super dirty and worn! I've used it almost every day since I got it in 2019.

I was liking this one : https://www.amazon.com/RoyalCare-Si...eywords=dog+treat+pouch&qid=1619278707&sr=8-5 but I REALLY like how the one I have now holds so much food, and a extra slip lead, and his tennis balls.

This one looks like the one i have, and I am considering it because of the extras it comes with. I feel like the clicker would be great for trick training and free shaping : https://www.amazon.com/Training-Wal...ywords=dog+treat+pouch&qid=1619278707&sr=8-10

this one is cool, but I feel like i'd get hot : https://www.amazon.com/MalsiPree-Do...ywords=dog+treat+pouch&qid=1619278707&sr=8-43

but speaking of that, there is also treat SKIRTS : https://www.amazon.com/Better-Sport...ords=dog+training+skirt&qid=1619278850&sr=8-5

which will carry ALOT! But it might also get hot.

which seems the best?

Also dog treats.

I usually use a mixture of turkey (high value), Nulo Crunchy treats (medium value), and kibble (low value). With a reactive dog, I am ALWAYS!! training on walks. Always, I do phase out treats, but I also use them ALOT!!

I want to try freeze dried raw treats, has anybody used those? do they just fall apart in the pouch?

The third one I think would be best because if you get the grey color, there’s an extra coupon so you can get it even cheaper right now! And of course all the extras it comes with.

I love the Stewart’s freeze dried liver treats. They don’t fall apart and the dogs are addicted LOL they have a ton of different flavors too.

ouuhh, getting that one, then. I also really like the silicone one... too bad it doesn't have extra storage.

I used to keep all my treats in a leather fanny pack and that thing lasted FIVE Years!! before deacon tore it apart. I'd go the fanny pack route again if i knew it would hold up as well :L

gross. icky.
