I have seen some very light ones in shows but they almost always have poorer conformation than the ones of the correct coloring.

That might just be because the lighter colour is less popular not necessarily because they are backyard breeders

If a dog makes it to crufts, it's not BYB, but almost all of the pet dogs that are 'english cream' are BYB. There's an 'english cream' BYB right up the street from us, and that's where a lot of peoples' dogs come from in my neighborhood.

The golden retriever comes in many shades. From light cream, nearly white, to deep red.

I'd love to, if I'm allowed! Apparently these are open and specialty shows because the regular all breed show was cancelled for some reason. IDK what open or specialty is, but I guess we'll find out.
